Software Eases Tourney Headaches

By John Steinbreder – Global Golf Post One of the toughest and most tedious jobs for a golf professional, or anyone else involved in club management, is running tournaments. They require lots of preparation, to be sure, and it is not easy to keep up with all that is happening during an actual event. In addition, assembling information once play is done and producing results that are both timely and accurate are no simple tasks. The good news is there are places that those people can turn for help in that realm. One of those outfits is VPAR, which pioneered Live Golf Scoring and has recently released a web-based software tool called Tournament Management System, or TMS. Basically, TMS enables club managers and professionals to simplify – and monetize – tournament operations as they also seek to improve the player experience. According to Tommy Forte, a member of the PGA of America and VPAR’s director of golf, the software accomplishes that by enabling event organizers to display leaderboards online and in the clubhouse, handle pairings and handicaps, and provide pace-of-play reports.
